There are two Sundays in August that shape how the year feels inside the gate. The first is the Concours, when the 18th fairway becomes a stage and the forest belongs to the world. The second is the Sunday after, when the tents come down, 17-Mile Drive breathes, and the place quietly returns to the people who live here.
That second Sunday matters more than usual this year. For the first time in a century, the building at the center of Pebble Beach is finished being rebuilt. What follows through late September is a stretch of the calendar most residents overlook, and 2026 is the year to stop overlooking it.
The Lodge you have not actually walked through yet
If your last full walkthrough of The Lodge was before February 2025, you have not seen it. Stillwater reopened for lunch and dinner on November 4, 2025, following an extensive nine-month renovation that also included a refresh of the historic Tap Room and The Bench Restaurant, a kitchen overhaul, and guest room updates. It had been a century since The Lodge received a major overhaul.
The point of walking through now is not the novelty. It is that each room was reopened with a specific idea, and knowing which one is which changes how you use the property through fall.
Stillwater. The redesigned Stillwater has a wrap-around dining room framed by floor-to-ceiling windows, a central bar overlooking the Pacific, vaulted ceilings with soft brick arches, and a glass-enclosed wine room. Book the corner two-top on the Stillwater Cove side for a late lunch on a Tuesday. It is the quietest hour the restaurant now has.
The Tap Room. The Tap Room, reopened in October, showcases updated interiors and an expanded collection of historic golf memorabilia, including Tom Watson's wedge that he famously chipped in with on the penultimate hole during the 1982 U.S. Open. The deep green booths remain. What is new is worth a slow walk along the walls before the first drink.
The Champions Room. Tucked at the far end of the Tap Room is a new 24-person private dining room lined tip to toe with U.S. Open history. It is the room to remember for a milestone birthday or a small anniversary next spring.
The Bench. The Bench reopened in June and features updated interiors and continues to serve its signature wood-fired cuisine overlooking the 18th hole of Pebble Beach Golf Links. For a weeknight, it remains the most reliable seat on the property.
The Terrace Lounge. Once through the doors, the world-famous views of Stillwater Cove present a grand opening to the Pebble Beach experience, and the Terrace Lounge welcomes with an expanded footprint and greater capacity than ever. The practical outcome for residents is that a spontaneous drink before sunset is now genuinely possible on a Friday.
A calendar built for people who do not need tickets
The value of the six weeks after Concours is the cadence. Events arrive one at a time, spaced far enough apart that you can attend one without rearranging the week around it. Here is what is on the property between now and the last weekend of September.

The interesting pattern is what the calendar does not do. It never doubles up. The PURE Insurance Championship ends on a Sunday, and the Authors & Ideas Festival begins the following Friday. The luau falls on the Sunday that closes the festival. If you attend everything, you get one commitment per week, which is the point.
The Championship in particular rewards residents in ways it does not reward visitors. The PURE Insurance Championship is a PGA TOUR Champions tournament played annually at Pebble Beach Golf Links and Poppy Hills Golf Course, a 54-hole event impacting The First Tee. Because the field rotates junior players in alongside the pros, the pace of play is different from a standard TOUR event, and the crowds are a fraction of what the AT&T brings in February. Walking a few holes on a Friday afternoon is a very different experience than fighting for a spot along the 7th tee in Pro-Am week.
The Authors & Ideas Festival is the other event residents underuse. It sits on a Stevenson School campus most Pebble Beach residents drive past weekly. The festival emphasizes depth over spectacle, creating space for meaningful dialogue between speakers and audiences, and its intentionally intimate format and carefully curated program have made it one of the Monterey Peninsula's most respected cultural events. A single-day pass is the least ambitious way in and the highest return on a Saturday.
The standing rituals worth putting back on the calendar
Between the dated events sit the weekly rhythms that only make sense once summer traffic clears.
Enjoy the sounds of the iconic Spanish Bay bagpiper at the Spanish Bay fire pits.
The bagpiper has been part of the property long enough that residents stop hearing it the way a new visitor does. September is the month to walk out to the fire pits at dusk on purpose, with a drink from the Terrace Lounge or Roy's, and stand there for the fifteen minutes it takes. It is the single most Pebble Beach thing the property offers, and it is free.
The other standing ritual worth resetting into the week is live jazz by the fireplace at The Inn at Spanish Bay every Thursday through Saturday from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm. A Thursday drop-in after dinner elsewhere is the low-effort version of a night out that still feels like one.
Why this rhythm matters if you own here
Two things change in a Pebble Beach home the fall after a major property refresh at The Lodge.
The first is functional. Owners who host guests, whether family in November or clients in the spring, now have a materially different set of rooms to plan around. A dinner at Stillwater with a wine room walkthrough, a private lunch in the Champions Room, an early cocktail on the expanded Terrace before a home-cooked dinner back at the house. The second is cultural. Pebble Beach Golf Links is the future site of the 2027, 2032, 2037, and 2044 U.S. Open Championships and the 2035, 2040, and 2048 U.S. Women's Opens. The renovation of The Lodge was the property positioning itself for the next twenty years of that calendar. For residents, the practical read is that the fall shoulder season, the six weeks after Concours and before the holidays, is the last stretch of the year when the forest belongs mostly to the people who live in it. Once the 2027 U.S. Open cycle begins in earnest, the rhythm of quiet weeks will change.
Which is a long way of saying: use September. Walk the Tap Room walls. Book the Champions Room for something you have been putting off. Sit through one Authors & Ideas panel.
